Forming a temporary unworking flank of an opencast during development of syncline coal deposits
The author provides the process flows based on the joint development of several adjacent open-pit benches using single excavating and automobile set when the excavator group is installed on the working bench and ensures highly productive operation of the equipment and stimulation of the mining operations. While the temporary unworking flank of an opencast is being formed, the mining operations are controlled through purposeful adjustment of the working flank slope angle by means of changing the operating platform width in the technological areas ranging from actual to minimal values using the established process flow.

Satellite monitoring of the deformation of the ground surface, buildings and constructions
The use of modem methods of conventional and satellite geodesy for observation of the ground surface displacement allows the mining enterprises to carry out research at a higher quality level. Currently the measurements cover not only the near zone of technological impact of the mining operations — displacement trough in the case of underground mining or flank-side mass in the case of open-cut mining — but also the far zone of the mining impact stretching up to a few dozens of kilometres. The measurements carried out using the modern geodesic complexes have proved to be a very effective tool for solving the problems of geomechanics, thus making possible not only discrete measurements, but also routine monitoring of the Earth crust strains and control of the deformation of buildings and constructions.

The author studies the seism city, geology, geomorphology and typology of the Apsheron Peninsula, including the city of Baku. He selects the typical (near and remote) earthquakes, for which the seismic wave attenuation coefficients have been found. The author explores the seismic properties of sedimentary strata of various degrees of consolidation and builds spatial geological models.
