The role of mineral resources in the Great War
In the closing part of his article about the role of the mineral resources in World War II the author describes the present-day state of Russia's mineral and raw-material complex. He mentions its role in the world economy, especially in the area of energy resources. He also shows that the existing resource exporting trend adversely affects the development of the country's economy.

The specifics of drawing up a contract for the works related to subsoil resources use
The author describes the specifics of the contractual relations in the area of subsoil resources use. He points out that despite the existence of wide range of legal regulations governing these relations certain entities fail to take into account the specifics of construction and operation of the mining enterprises, as well as some elements of the deposit facilities construction. The author proposes a number of measures for improving the legal relations as applied to the contracts for the works related to the use of subsoil resources, including the drawing up and approval of a standard form contract for such works.

The mineral resource industry development as the strategic aim of the Kamchatka region's economy
The authors describe the current state of Kamchatka region's economy, which has a clearly marked mono-structural nature: only marine biological resources are explored intensively. The fundamental and social infrastructure industries are underdeveloped; the exploration of precious energy, mineral and natural resources of the peninsula remains at the initial stage. The authors believe that the development of the mineral and raw-material complex of the peninsula must be considered a strategic aim of the region's economy development. The advancement of the exploration works will ensure steady growth of the production of gold, nickel, coal, platinum metals, gas, and in perspective petroleum.

The technique of recycling the sludge produced by acidic mine water neutralization stations
The authors have developed a technique for extracting copper and zinc from the sludge produced by the acidic mine water neutralization stations and for complete recycling of leaching wastes (cakes). The proposed technique allows to produce additional amounts of non-ferrous metals, make available the lands used for sludge storage, reduce the environment pollution and completely recycle the accumulated amounts of sludge.

Overburden hydraulicking as a way of sustainable use of mineral resources
The article proves an opportunity for the production of a sand-gravel material based on overburden rocks from surface coal operations with the use of hydraulic mining methods. In addition to high economic efficiency the application of these flow sheets provides also for integrated multipurpose utilization of mineral resources and softening of the environmental effect of mining.

The innovation technique for extraction of thin and complex-structured coal beds
Using the example of Karaganda coal basin reserves development the authors propose a new technique for extraction of thin and complex-structured coal beds, which allows placing the solid in mines with spreading it in protective rubble and filling masses. This technique is expected to ensure the completeness of coal reserves extraction and smoothen the unevenness of underground pressure in the working face and in its junctions.

Bench height substantiation taking in account losses for open pits of «ALROSA» company
The functional dependence of diamond losses from different bench heights for open pits in «ALROSA» company is investigated. In the approach that was proposed the main criteria for estimation of economic efficiency to compare variants of mining technology serves a profit returned on recovered reserves and total value gained uring all life of deposit development. To calculate optimal parameters detailed geological and survey computer models of diamond deposits with defined borders between ore and waste rocks are used.

The author considers the ways of and the natural environment for the removal of salt brines produced by the mining enterprises of AK «ALROSA» in permafrost zone of the Western Yakutia. He finds that in complex cryohydrogeological conditions of the region's diamond deposits two sewage disposal methods are used as the best suitable ones: reinjection in water-bearing strata and dumping in frozen strata.
