The author characterizes Russia's mineral and raw material complex and distinguishes its role in the world economy, particularly in the energy sector. He proves that the existing resource exporting trend adversely affects the development of the country's economy. He lists the main problems of Russia's mineral and raw-material complex and proposes a number of specific solutions.

Mineral resources of Primorskiy region: state, problem and prospect
The author describes the current situation in the mineral sector of Primorsky Territory of Russia. He points out that most of the mineral deposits have poor competitive ability due to the low quality of the ores and because of the world economic depression which has caused a drop in prices for metals worldwide. The author concludes that large-scale production can only be recommenced if new deposits are discovered containing high-quality ores. He also advises to reprocess the mine dumps and rejects which are abundant at the currently explored mineral deposits.

Thanks to the integration of the results of lithofacies research with 3D prospecting seismology data, the author has determined the forming factors and distribution patterns of the reservoirs in Jurassic strata of Urnensko-Usanovskaya zone in the south of the Western Siberia region. He has also segregated the kindly zones of depositional oil traps formation.

The correlation between the microcomponent composition of bitumen and the enclosing strata
The author demonstrates the dependence between the elements content in the composition of heavy oils and potentially toxic bitumens and their enclosing strata. He comes to the conclusion that the accumulation of the wide range of organometallic admixtures in hydrocarbons occurs at early stages of the organic substance existence during its transformation processes. The subsequent ontogenesis of the organic matter and hydrocarbons changes the initial primary microcomponent composition of oil by means of sorption processes.

The assessment of the polymeric materials for mine roofing in the conditions of the underground mines of the diamond production company «ALROSA»
The authors provide the results of the pilot tests of roofing the underground mines of the diamond company «Alrosa» using the polymeric materials produced by «Minova». It was found out that in the complicated cryohydrogeological and oil-and-gas conditions of the Western Yakutia diamond deposits not all of the tested fixing components can be used for increasing the rock stability.

The author proves that gold-ore, rare-metal and complex-ore deposits characterized by high volatility of mineralization and ore bodies thickness in essence can not have any sufficiently great correlation between the component content in the samples and the bodies thickness due to the geological and statistical specifics of such deposits. It means that at the specified deposits there are sufficiently broad conditions, under which the most effective method to estimate the average content of the useful component is arithmetical mean.
