The author emphasizes the role of mineral and raw material resources is provision of the economic security. He notes the necessity for promoting the work of the country's geological service by means of restructuring the system of strategic management of the subsoil resources research. It is of utmost importance to increase the level of the subsoil resources research and establish the State Committee for Geology and Subsurface Resource Management. The author stresses the necessity for strategic longterm forecasting of the country's economy development and introduction of target-based planning on every level, from enterprise to the economy development strategy as a whole.

The authors analyze the current situation in hydraulic mining at the open casts of Kuzbassrazrezugol JSC. They come to a conclusion that the efficient performance of a giant requires operational adjustment of dredging pump performance in order to eliminate the disbalance between its delivery and inflow of slurry into the sump when undercutting the hole shoulder with high capacity giants.

The author presents results of the experimental plausibility check of the developed methodology for qualitative assessment of environmental conditions by the example of underground mine area with annual capacity of less than 500,000 tons of ore. The check has been performed by contrastive analysis of the results of quantitative assessment of environmental conditions of the same area performed using Earth remote sensing methodology.
