Comparison of laser scanning and radar interferometry in observing the movements of the earth's surface in open-pit mining

- Abstract:
- The article discusses two methods of observing deformations of the Earth’s surface – satellite radar interferometry and aerial laser scanning. These methods of monitoring deformations of sides, slopes of quarries and sections are continuously being improved. Deformations of the sides and slopes can cause accidents and accidents. Therefore, there is a need for a more detailed study of the use of radar interferometry and airborne laser scanning in observing deformations of the Earth’s surface. The relevance of the comparative analysis of these techniques lies in the fact that improving their characteristics will significantly accelerate the performance of surveying work, increase the accuracy of measurement results and reduce the risks of negative consequences due to deformation processes. At the same time, the paper describes in sufficient detail the basic principles of performing surveying measurements using these methods. The factors influencing the increase in the efficiency of satellite radar interferometry and airborne laser scanning are considered.

Optimization of the formation of three-dimensional models of surface objects using a terrestrial laser scanner

- Abstract:
- Based on experimental data, the article defines optimal approaches to the formation of three-dimensional models of surface objects of various sizes. Boundary conditions for the use of polyurethane reflectors and tacheometric prisms as reference points are established. The presented research results allow us to optimize the positioning of point clouds depending on the scale of the scanned object, which significantly accelerates the creation of three-dimensional models of mine workings and undermining buildings.

- Abstract:
- The correctness of the geological model, field development efficiency, industrial safety and, ultimately, the economic performance of the project depend on reliable information about the spatial position of the well. The article considers the problematic issues of well spatial position control during oil and gas field development, gives proposals for improving the procedure of well spatial position control by surveyor services of field development operators. The basic elements of well positioning when performing measurements by downhole telemetry systems are covered, the method of calculation of azimuth and zenith angle on the basis of telemetry systems data is given, the main sources of errors and applied methods of measurement correction are described.

- Abstract:
- This article presents the study results of interaction of shock air wave and rapidly erectable stoppings using numerical modeling techniques based on the finite element method. It was established that existing holding systems of parachute stopping do not always provide the necessary resistance to dampen the shock wave at certain cross-sections of mine workings. The arrangement of the stopping elements with the maximum value of Rankine criterion was determined. The results of the studies were used to develop the design of a system for additional fastening of the stopping material to the elements of the anchor support.

- The article presents a new method for calculating rational depression on the reservoir during the operation of flooded gas wells at fields at a late stage of development. The proposed approach combines multiple criteria for operational regimes, establishing an acceptable range of reservoir depressions. The optimal depression value is then determined through comparative analysis of key technological performance indicators derived from hydrodynamic modeling of various development scenarios. The methodology was validated on six watered gas wells in a field characterized by a high content of corrosive components in Valanginian deposits. Results demonstrate that applying the optimal depression range enhances gas recovery, mitigates operational risks, and minimizes equipment corrosion. The study emphasizes the significance of maintaining a stable flow regime to prevent issues such as liquid plugs while maximizing annual gas production. This approach contributes to the efficient and safe exploitation of gas reservoirs at advanced stages of depletion, extending field life and improving recovery rates.

Investigation of the impact second mining operations on a borehole drilled in a saturated with water rock mass

- Abstract:
- A research into geomechanical processes in a fluid-saturated rock mass is described in the article using the example of undermining a methane drainage borehole located at the industrial site of a mine. Based on the detailed analysis of the mining operations impact, the calculations of radial loads on the borehole casing, of the ground surface displacements and deformations, and as well of the vertical deformations along the methane drainage borehole axis have been carried out. The possibility of performing second mining operations on a protection pillar to minimize the negative consequences of undermining at the maximum coal extraction is considered.

Semi-dry tailings dump stability management

- Abstract:
- The article presents an assessment of the risk level of a hydrodynamic accident at a tailings dump using the “fault tree” method, and the results of engineering studies of the spatial-temporal change in the physical and mechanical properties of a dump of semi-dry tailings of cyanidation cakes. It was established that as a result of laying tailings in thin layers of 2 to 5 m, freezing them in the winter period and consolidation of the man-made massif, their humidity decreased, density and strength characteristics increased. The unique experience of implementing scientific and technical solutions for making the dump of semi-dry tailings on an inclined waterproof base is presented. The implementation of those solutions has allowed to double the total dump capacity. The risk level of a hydrodynamic accident has been reduced by eliminating the negative impact of hydrostatic and hydrodynamic forces on the dam. The dam stability has been ensured at a seismic intensity of 8 points in the area with a coefficient greater than the standard (with a probability of collapse of no more than 2.9%) due to a special measure to increase the shear resistance along the base of the dump. The results of the research and ten years of experience in the operation of a semi-dry tailings dump can be useful to design and operating organizations when placing tailings storage facilities in limited areas in the northern climate zone.

Activation, regeneration and recycling of spent catalyst using ultrasonic impact

- Abstract:
- The paper analyzes studies on the activation, regeneration and recycling of spent catalysts using ultrasound exposure. The study showed that ultrasonic treatment (22–44 kHz, up to 13 W/cm2, up to 2 kW) of spent catalysts really allows for their activation and regeneration, by removing surface deposits, films, and dispersing catalyst particles. Comparison of methods using ultrasound with traditional methods of catalyst cleaning showed a significant reduction in process duration, an increase in the degree of cleaning, and the cost-effectiveness of recovery. The effects of using ultrasound - cavitation, radiation pressure, acoustic flows with frequencies of 20–22, 30, 35, 37, 80 kHz, intensities up to 10 W/cm2 in the process of acid, bacterial-chemical leaching of spent catalysts, due to the destruction of oxide films and contaminants, removal of surface deposits, intensification of diffusion of the leaching solution into microcracks, significantly accelerates the process – up to 30 %, increases the percentage of extraction of target metals – up to 99.9 %.

Application of geostatistical analysis methods for assessment of the resource potential of a gold ore deposit

- Abstract:
- The article presents the results of assessing mineral resources using geostatistical interpolation methods under the influence of local and spatial uncertainty for the Aginskoye gold deposit. This paper presents a case study to support the use of alternative geostatistical methods that use distance/gradient and distance/relative depth variograms to process field geological sampling data. The processes of using two geostatistical methods are described in detail: indicator kriging and sequential indicator modeling. Based on these methods, composites, statistics and variograms were calculated for each zone based on gold samples from exploration wells (PS) and production blast holes (PBH). The model of the recoverable reserves block based on indicator kriging was created on the basis of exploration wells, and the model of the content control block was created on the basis of production blast holes. The recoverable reserves model was calibrated based on the grade control model and data from the mined-out portion of the ore body. The research results can be useful to mining companies for optimizing quarry operations and for quantifying mineral resources.

- Abstract:
- The article analyzes the prospects for using liquefied natural gas (LNG) as a motor fuel in industrial transport. Key aspects of LNG application are considered, including its environmental, technogenic and economic benefits compared to traditional fuels. International experience of using LNG in different countries, such as China, India, Iran, Egypt, Brazil and others, where this type of fuel has become widespread, is described. The key features and an example of LNG transportation and refueling infrastructure at mining sites are considered. Particular attention is paid to Russian experience and problems associated with the development of LNG infrastructure.
